From Alfred Garner of CHRIS 180:
I hope all is well. I want to encourage everyone to save the date and participate in Mechanicsville Community Peace Walk on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 11:30am-2:30pm. We want to take this opportunity to pour positivity into Mechanicsville and reclaim community space. We want to invite all community stakeholders out to create positive posters on the spot, network, walk and support one another as we address community safety and acts of violence in Mechanicsville. We will start the walk at approximately 12:30 pm. The donut sign will be on so we will have Krispie Kreme, coffee and other treats.
We will be forwarding the flyer very soon! Let me know if you have any questions.
The Atlanta Fair will be back in the neighborhood from March 8 – April 21st. Also, Universoul Circus will be hosted in Mechanicsville going forward, beginning this month starting January 30th. The Grey lot where these are events are being held is owned by the Atlanta Fulton County Recreation Authority, which is an authority established jointly by the City of Atlanta and Fulton County. The event will run from 11:00 am – 6:00 p.m. and will consist of sport based, carnival themed, installations, (e.g. Basketball pop-shots, Football toss, classic arcade games & etc). There will also be a custom mural display in tribute to Colin Kaepernick for his career sacrifice to protest systematic oppression and police brutality. We will send a schematic of the footprint approximately 2 weeks from the event date.
Feel free to call me with any questions or concerns.
